The 1st YU-CEE Online International Exchange Workshopを開催しました The 1st YU-CEE Online International Exchange Workshop Successfully Held
2026年2月26日（木）、山口大学工学部社会建設工学科（YU-CEE）が主催となり「The 1st YU-CEE Online International Exchange Workshop」を開催し、本学科学生の他、マレーシア、インドネシアから38名が参加しました。
本学科はこれまで長年にわたり東アジアコースをとおして世界視野を持った技術者教育を行ってきましたが、本ワークショップは海外の学生向けに本学科のプログラムを紹介するために初めて開催され、本学科の2名の教員による脱炭素社会に関連する講義セッションと、本学科の学生と海外の学生が交流する学生セッションの２部構成で行われました。
講義セッションでは、アジズル・モクスド准教授が炭素を排出しないバイオ電気工学における最近の進展について講演し、持続可能なエネルギー創出に向けた革新的なアプローチを紹介しました。続いて、山本浩一教授が熱帯泥炭地からの炭素流出に関する最新の研究成果を発表するとともに、海岸侵食に関する継続的な課題について、環境および社会に与える影響を踏まえて紹介しました。
後半の学生セッションでは森啓年准教授の司会のもと、マレーシアから留学して本学科3年に在籍しているヌル・リファ・サヒラ・ビンディ・ムハマド・サザリーさんとムハマド・シュクリ・ビン・リンソンさんから、留学の経緯や大学生活、日常生活などについて紹介がありました。日本への留学に興味を持つ参加者からは、日常生活に関する質問が多く寄せられました。
本学科は、これからも留学生を積極的に受け入れるとともに、海外の大学との学術交流の場を提供してまいります。
On Thursday, February 26, 2026, the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Yamaguchi University (YU-CEE), hosted the 1st YU-CEE Online International Exchange Workshop. The event brought together 38 participants, including undergraduate and graduate students from the department of CEE- YU as well as participants from Malaysia and Indonesia, fostering international academic exchange in an online setting.
The department has long promoted engineering education with a global outlook through its East Asia International Course. Building on this commitment, the workshop was organized for the first time to introduce YU-CEE’s academic programs, research activities, and student life to prospective students overseas. The program consisted of two main sessions: a faculty lecture session focusing on engineering challenges related to a decarbonized society, followed by a student exchange session aimed at encouraging interaction between YU-CEE students and international participants.
In the lecture session, Associate Professor Md. Azizul Moqsud delivered a talk on recent advances in carbon emission free bioelectricity engineering, highlighting innovative approaches toward sustainable energy generation. This was followed by a lecture by Professor Koichi Yamamoto, who presented the latest research findings on carbon outflow from tropical peatlands and discussed ongoing challenges related to coastal erosion, emphasizing their environmental and societal impacts.
In the second half, the student session was moderated by Associate Professor Hirotoshi Mori. Two Malaysian international students currently enrolled as third-year students in the department, Ms. Nur Rif’ah Sahira Binti Mohd Sazali and Mr. Mohamad Shyukri Bin Rinson, shared their experiences regarding their motivations for studying in Japan, university life, and daily living. Many questions were raised by participants who are interested in studying in Japan, particularly concerning daily life.
Through this successful workshop, YU-CEE reaffirmed its commitment to internationalization and global academic collaboration. The department will continue to actively welcome international students and create opportunities for meaningful academic exchange with universities and institutions around the world.
